Bill Stankey

“Music has always been at the center of my life and now I get to share songs and bands that mean something to me and express them via oil, acrylic and mixed media on canvas, board, paper and fabric.

I came to painting late in life creating my first painting at age 63.  I believe that the right combination of motion, color, texture and physical manipulation of medium allow messages and images to appear in the work almost miraculously.

I paint with little preconceived design but there are times when my hands and body shake and my heart leaps when these images appear.

Marrying my passion for music and media with the visual arts of painting and collage gives me unimaginable joy.  I can’t believe at age 63 my right brain woke up!”
